What is FERPA?
FERPA is a United States federal law that protects the privacy of students in their educations records from unauthorised disclosure. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends school beyond the high school level.
FERPA applies to all academic institutions that receive funds from a Department of Education program.
What are educational records?
Educational records classified by FERPA are records which are in direct relation to a student and are maintained by an educational institution, agency or by a party acting upon. These records may include video recordings and may require parental consent if the student is a minor (under the age of 18).
Are there any FERPA certification programs?
As there are currently no FERPA certification programmes available, academic institutions must perform their own evaluations to determine whether their service is compliant.

Data Security
We support the latest recommended secure cipher suites and protocols to encrypt Customer Data when transmitted, including the use of HTTPS and SSL technology. Firewall is hardened and fortified with custom rules to minimise risk of external attack causing data breach. Databases within YOUBRIO ecosystem are implemented with the latest security modules and data such as passwords are stored as hash values.

Data retention and disposal
Customer Data is removed from production servers immediately if customer requested such deletion via Contact Us, and is then permanently deleted from backup within 31 days.
Customer Data Privacy
We do not monitor the content of Customer Data you submit to YOUBRIO.

Sharing of Data with third party
The YOUBRIO framework is self-contained and does not interact with third party systems for data exchange, except for payment processing. The content and data of users are only exchanged within YOUBRIO ecosystem.
Limited Personal Identification Information Gathering
YOUBRIO only gathers minimal personal data in order to provide the services. The information collected, such as name and date of birth, gender and mobile/cellular contact details only, explicitly excludes sensitive information such as social security number, tax file number, academic grades etc. Additionally we do not record any videos that are streamed during YOUBRIO lessons.
